NASA has just launched its on-demand streaming service and an upgraded app, opening up a cosmos of original content for everyone to enjoy. These digital platforms serve as the go-to destination for a variety of content, including original video series, live launch coverage, kids’ programming, Spanish-language shows, and the latest news. As NASA continues its mission to enhance life on Earth through innovation, exploration, and discovery, these platforms offer a front-row seat to the excitement.

The on-demand streaming service is now available for download on major platforms through the NASA App on iOS and Android devices, as well as streaming media players like Roku and Apple TV. Users can also stream online at https://plus.nasa.gov. According to NASA Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy, “NASA is a leader in the federal government for creating inspirational content that meets people where they are.” She expressed excitement about the powerful combination of the revamped NASA website, the launch of NASA+, and the updated NASA App, highlighting the myriad benefits that NASA’s data can bring to humanity.

These platforms are part of NASA’s commitment to making its content more accessible, discoverable, and secure for the public. Earlier this year, NASA unveiled its redesigned nasa.gov and science.nasa.gov websites, providing a centralized hub for research, climate data, Artemis information, and more. Marc Etkind, associate administrator of the Office of Communications at NASA Headquarters, emphasized that the new streaming platform and app allow the world to join NASA as it explores the unknown. He stated, “NASA is the catalyst behind some of humanity’s greatest stories, and now, with our new digital presence, everyone will have access to these stories 24/7.”

The ad-free, no-cost, and family-friendly streaming service offers users access to NASA’s Emmy Award-winning live coverage and insights into missions through a range of original video series. The NASA+ content includes a documentary series on the James Webb Space Telescope, animated children’s shows about planets and the universe, personal stories of Black NASA astronauts, behind-the-scenes glimpses of scientists working on America’s first asteroid sample, and more.

The NASA app, downloaded over 30 million times, provides a treasure trove of the agency’s latest content, featuring over 21,000 images, podcasts, news stories, and live event coverage. New updates to the app include full access to on-demand streaming with NASA+, cloud push notifications, International Space Station sightings, photo rating capabilities, and augmented reality features for exploring 3D models of NASA rockets, spacecraft, and rovers. It’s like having the universe at your fingertips!
