LG Induction Cooktops and Ranges Lead the Industry as First to Achieve New ENERGY STAR Certification

LG Electronics has achieved a significant milestone by being the first in the industry to receive certification for induction cooktops and ranges under the new ENERGY STAR® specification for residential electric cooking products, as confirmed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

LG’s induction products, including cooktops and ranges, have garnered certification under the ENERGY STAR residential electric cooking products version 1.0 specification. Among the certified products are 30- and 36-inch LG induction cooktop models, a 36-inch LG STUDIO model, and a 36-inch model from LG’s luxury built-in appliance brand, Signature Kitchen Suite. Additionally, three LG slide-in models have been certified as ENERGY STAR induction ranges.

According to the EPA, ENERGY STAR certified residential electric cooking products, under the Version 1 specification, are expected to provide users with an average energy savings of approximately 18 percent compared to standard electric units. Notably, ENERGY STAR certified induction models offer benefits such as faster heating, precise controls, easy cleaning, smart capabilities, various sensors, and multiple user-friendly features.

Ann Bailey, U.S Environmental Protection Agency ENERGY STAR Products Director, emphasized the significance of induction technology in residential energy efficiency, stating that it provides an exciting new pathway for households to contribute to the clean energy future. Bailey highlighted that if all residential electric cooking tops sold in the United States were ENERGY STAR certified, annual energy cost savings would reach $160 million, and nearly 1.75 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions would be avoided.

Thomas Yoon, CEO of LG Electronics North America, expressed pride in LG’s role as an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year and welcomed the introduction of the new ENERGY STAR cooking category. Yoon emphasized that the certified induction cooking products align with LG’s broader electrification strategy, empowering customers to enhance energy efficiency, save money, and contribute to environmental protection.

In addition to their electric cooking innovations, LG offers a range of whole home electrification products, including ENERGY STAR certified heat-pump-enabled HVAC systems, water heaters, and dryers. The company also provides energy storage systems and electric vehicle charging systems. LG’s ThinQ Energy platform further supports customers in managing their home’s energy usage efficiently.
