LG Electronics (LG) is set to introduce its innovative artificial intelligence (AI) for smart homes. The smart home AI agent from LG integrates robotic, AI, and multi-modal technologies, enabling it to navigate, learn, comprehend, and engage in intricate conversations. Serving as an all-encompassing home manager and companion, LG’s smart life solution enhances users’ daily routines, reflecting the company’s dedication to realizing its “Zero Labor Home” vision.

Equipped with an advanced ‘two-legged’ wheel design, LG’s smart home AI agent can autonomously move around the home. The intelligent device communicates verbally with users and expresses emotions through articulated leg joints movements. The incorporation of multi-modal AI technology, combining voice and image recognition with natural language processing, allows the smart home AI agent to grasp context, intentions, and actively communicate with users.

Functioning as a mobile smart home hub, this AI agent connects and manages smart home appliances and IoT devices. Through LG’s collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., the AI agent features the Qualcomm Robotics RB5 Platform, offering powerful on-device AI capabilities like face and user recognition. Utilizing its built-in camera, speaker, and various sensors, the AI agent gathers real-time environmental data, including temperature, humidity, and indoor air quality. LG’s advanced AI technologies analyze this data, continuously learning and integrating it with external information. Additionally, the AI agent can act as a pet monitor and security guard, enabling users to remotely monitor and care for their pets while receiving alerts for unusual activities.

The LG smart home AI agent is versatile and scalable. It autonomously patrols the home when unoccupied, sending notifications if it detects open windows or lights left on. It contributes to energy conservation by connecting with a smart outlet to turn off unused devices throughout the house.

Upon the user’s return home, the AI agent greets them at the front door, analyzes their voice and facial expressions to discern emotions, and selects music or content based on their mood. It assists users by providing transportation details, weather updates, personal schedules, or medication reminders.

LG aims to liberate users from household chores with the smart home AI agent and establish itself as a leading player in the smart home market. According to Lyu Jae-cheol, president of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company, the groundbreaking AI agent combines autonomous mobility, AI technologies, and advanced communication capabilities to enhance customers’ lives. LG remains committed to helping customers experience a smarter, more enjoyable life at home.
