Snoop Dogg and his son, Cordell Broadus, have officially launched Death Row Games, an extension of Death Row Records. This new venture aims to provide a platform for minority creators and artists, offering them an opportunity to develop and publish content for Fortnite using the game’s Unreal Editor.

In an interview with BitMag, Broadus explained their background in game creation, stating that while they have been involved in amateur-level game development for the past five to six years, this venture marks a significant step. Snoop Dogg has also previously worked on mobile games and apps, contributing to their collective experience in the gaming industry.

The focus of Death Row Games is to allocate resources towards building a space for diverse creators within the gaming ecosystem. Broadus emphasized their desire to contribute to the decision-making process and storytelling aspects of gaming, showcasing representation of various cultures. They aspire to move beyond being just talent in the industry and actively participate in shaping the narrative, particularly focusing on creatives in underserved communities.

Broadus, at 26, expressed the unique experience of working closely with his father, highlighting the collaboration between generations. He acknowledged the generation gap, noting that his father, at 51, may be less familiar with certain aspects of the industry. However, he sees the partnership as an opportunity to bridge this gap, keeping his father updated on industry developments and translating information in a way that resonates with him.

Discussing his involvement with the estate of Tupac Shakur and other notable figures, Broadus shared his approach to decision-making, stating that he follows his instincts and stays attuned to the cultural pulse. He emphasized the mutual empowerment within their collaboration, where both he and his father exchange valuable insights and resources.

The launch of Death Row Games signifies a meaningful step for Snoop Dogg and Cordell Broadus, not only as contributors to the gaming industry but also as advocates for diversity and representation within the creative space.
